These traits make up the character of a
true leader. Student leaders can lead in positive ways by setting an
example of good character and by actively seeking to influence others in
positive directions. The above traits are just a few that you can
use to explore leadership with your student council members. Take
each trait and make it a monthly topic of discussion with the council
members. Have them construct a mural or wall hanging in their
student council chambers, or around the school. By the end of the
year the student council will have created several pieces of art and
learned about what traits it takes to be an effective leader.
